Freedom

Everyone wants freedom, but no one wants someone else's freedom to infringe on their freedom.

Runaway Jury

Just saw runaway jury.  I thought it was entertaining but I thought the proximate cause issue would be impossible to overcome, so it felt a little unrealistic.  However, I did start to wonder if there actually would be less gun shot victims if gun manufactures could be sued for wrongful deaths.  Probably not.  Lawsuits have not stopped the tobacco industry, but I do wonder if there has been a decrease in smoking that is causally linked to lawsuits.

law school

I was just looking at some of the schools I applied to for law school and who got in with what grades and LSAT score.  If I had got a few points higher on my LSAT score I would probably have gotten a nice scholarship.  The LSAT means so much.  It is crazy how a few points can make the difference between thousands of dollars.  It reminds me of how I was .01 grade points away from a full scholarship at BYU.  If I had done better on just one test, I would have saved thousands of dollars.  But I suppose were it not for a slightly lower LSAT than I wanted I would not be in San Diego.

Prosper

Would it be better if everyone obtained financing through peer-to-peer lending?  Put banks out of business?  Would there be a net positive gain in the world.  Would bank employees be ok with it if they knew they could get cheaper loans?
